Bumbershoot

This assignment was originally for a Bumbershoot logo contest.  However, it changed to being an art contest instead.  Bumbershoot is a music festival that is held in Seattle every fall.  Both of these designs incorporate the name Bumbershoot, some kind of symbol of music, as well as an element of Seattle.

Butterfly wings

This was another experiment I did in photoshop, with the help of a tutorial.  (I have a lot of free time on my hands)  The design is simple and beautiful, and it took many tries to get it looking this nice.  I realize it looks more like a flower that is kind of folded in half... but that's beside the point.  Hope you like it!

T-Shirts

For our T-Shirt design assignment I came up with these two.  I only submitted the smiley headphone face because on the swirly one some of the lines were too thin.  However, I think both of these would rock on a T-Shirt!

Another Orb

This is one my favorite experiments.  I loosely followed a tutorial, but put my own spin on it as well.  I like the sorta-but-not-really contrasting colors, and the overall design is simple and elegant.

Experiment in Green

If you haven't already guessed, I love to experiment in Photoshop and Illustrator.  I chose this green "orb" of sorts, because I thought it was interesting to look at, and it reminded me of a strange energy ball. Oooh, shiny!

Colors

These three images were an experiment at following tutorials.  I really enjoyed making them and they
are each unique.  The angles at which they are set are great because it either fills up the page, or it is nicely framed by the black background.

Teen Magazine

Our Teen Magazine assignment aimed to create a magazine cover that was positive and upbeat.  I chose the term "Strokes" for my title because at the end of each meet, my coach yells "Strokes!" and we all congratulate who did well.  My favorite element of the cover is the text for the title.  It makes it a bit more fun and it's cool to look at.

iPod ad

For this assignment I chose to use the slogan iPose because the subject is posing. My favorite part of this picture is the how the angle of the spiral is the same as the angle of the subject's shoulders.

Yearbook pages in InDesign

For our InDesign project I chose to do fake yearbook pages. As you may be able to tell, not all these people go to the same school. I chose Girl's Swim and Dive, as well as Track and Field because those are the sports I participate in. Using those sports helped make the project more personal.

Corporate name and Logo

For our corporate name and logo assignment I chose the name Purple Case Design. I chose this becuase I am an avid doodler, and I keep them all in a purple notecard case. The logo is the swirly thing in the middle, and I chose to do that becuase it fit well as a spacer.

Annual Day Poster

This was my favorite out of the two posters that I made for my High School annual day. I like the inclusion of our mastcot, Otis, as well as the bubbles.
